Creative Women Run Wild

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Please join me in Virginia Beach for Art and Soul Inspirational Mixed Media Retreats!

Want to run wild for a day in your art journal?!  In this one-day workshop, for all level students, I will guide you through my process of art journaling and help you find your own unique visual voice.  I will use stories from Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés Ph.D. to inspire our journal page spreads.  She says that a “woman’s flagging vitality can be restored by extensive ‘psychic-archeological’ digs into the ruins of the female underworld.”  Come dig with me, explore, experiment, play, take risks and see what you find.  We will combine writing assignments and various mixed media techniques using paint, paper, stamps, ink, etc. to create layers and help you find your true voice. In addition to the mixed media techniques, I will share some ways to incorporate your unique lettering into your spread. The magic is in the process!

Here are some examples of my journal pages inspired by stories that I read in Women Who Run with the Wolves.

Refresh & Renew

I was reading "States of the Heart" in John O'Donohue's book To Bless the Space Between Us.

He wrote this:

"The heart has a beautiful simultaneity to it, being at once the place of arrival and departure within the body.  All the wearied blood arrives there to be refreshed and renewed, and it is from this place that the newly invigorated life force sets forth.  It is the place of ending that is always a new beginning."

This is what came from that:
